“Baseball needs a World Series for the ages, one that reinforces its roots and, yes, its relative purity. Granted, this is a lot to ask one World Series matchup to accomplish, but baseball needs an authentic fall classic.”
-William C. Rhoden of The New York Times
Really? This is what baseball needs? I believe this is what Fox needs. I believe this is what ESPN needs. I believe this is what Bud Selig wants. But is this really what the game of baseball needs? Does the game need to place two of the most infamous cheaters ever on the largest of stages? This surely is not what every 12 year old boy is America needs. Last year we saw a World Series between two teams whose stars are as far from steroid allegations as could be. This year the possibility of a Phillies-Angles World Series offers the same short of match-up. Two teams who play the game the right way, everyday. But what baseball really needs is to showcase two stars that cheated their way to the top, earning millions along the way, showing everyone in this country that cheating and deceiving is perfectly acceptable.
